About / Richards Bay
Where the SPS story started.
Opened in 2014 in Alton, Richards Bay — our home branch supplies steel plate and value-added processing to customers across KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and into sub-Saharan Africa.

SPS Richards Bay
Built on practical processing and the people on the floor — Richards Bay was where SPS began. The branch combines steel plate stockholding with hands-on processing capability, so customers can collect a single plate or a fully processed, project-ready set.

Project Showcase: Mozambique Pontoon Project.

SPS was proud to support the completion of 10 pontoons for Mozambique in collaboration with a prominent engineering business.
The project involved 371 tons of structural and plate steel, completed within a tight eight-month timeframe to meet shipping dates.
Each pontoon measured approximately 9.4 m long × 6.2 m wide × 3.7 m high, making this a standout example of large-scale steel project coordination, processing support and teamwork.
Project Showcase: Dragline Bucket Chain Links.

These chain links are designed for a dragline bucket, with the robust grey links being 100 mm S690 and the vibrant orange links being 90 mm S690.
Each link is meticulously crafted to ensure the highest quality and durability, ready to tackle the toughest challenges out in the field.
Project Showcase: Trailer Project.

This heavy-duty trailer was manufactured using all platework supplied by Steel Plate Solutions. Seeing our material come together in a finished build like this is always rewarding — especially when the end result is built for strength, durability, and day-to-day performance in tough environments.
A big thank you to our customer for allowing us to share these photos of the completed unit.
If you need laser, plasma, or CNC flame cutting, bent or rolled plate, Q&T wear parts, or complete plate preparation, our Germiston and Richards Bay teams are ready to assist with your next project.

Quality — ISO 9001
Our stamp is our signature. When you see SPS quality stamps on the plate, it's been checked and signed off. As one customer put it: "if I walk into my store rooms and see stock with the stamps on — I know I'll have a good day."
